Damascus Chapter 515, Order of the Eastern Star, will serve breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in the Doric Lodge 471 F&AM on Highways 65 and 285 West in Damascus if weather permits. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and sausage gravy. All donations are given to charities. Everyone is welcome.
We Love VBC will be hosting two public meetings in January. One is “Stake Your Claim in Clinton” and will cover the details of Phase One of the Clinton revitalization efforts. It will be held Jan. 14 at the community room of Petit Jean Electric at 5:15 with a light supper being served and the meeting commencing at 6 p.m. The second meeting is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 28 and the main speaker will be Ed Levy from Cromwell Architects. At The Dirty Farmers Community Market:
• A book-signing for local author Max Anne Isom. Her book, Everyone Should Know About Burns, is a true story of a teenage burn survivor. She will be at the market in downtown Clinton from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
• The market welcomes everyone to submit their children’s art for the month of January. Bring their work to the market during regular business hours or call 253-4716.
• The market is hosting art classes with Rebecca MacKay, a local artist who has painted more than 30 murals in several states. She was also the Lead Scenic artist on projects for the 2007 Breeder’s Cup and 2008 Super Bowl. For more information call 253-4716.
