The Van Buren County Community Band will perform a Memorial Day Concert at 6 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Morgan Park in downtown Clinton. A variety of music will be performed and several special groups will also play. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the music and the free hot dogs and to let our veterans know they are appreciated. In case of rain, the concert moves to the Clinton School Auditorium.
Carl Barger, an author who grew up in Cleburne County, will be at the Faulkner County Library in Conway at 7 p.m. June 13 to sign books and give a talk. His newest book, Dark Clouds Over Alabama is set in 1853 Alabama. Refreshments will be served. All library events are free and open to the public. First Baptist Church Sugar Loaf, 557 Highway 337, Higden, will be hosting a non-denominational gospel singing at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31. Everyone is welcome and anyone may participate in “special music” (songs, instrumental, etc.) after the congregational songs. A potluck will follow.
Van Buren County Judge Roger Hooper will hold a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Culpepper Volunteer Fire Department. The meeting will cover topics including county roads, budgets and economic development.
